A.Dear Sir,
Since you are claiming general category to your child as such there is no any special procedure to be followed except to mention caste of mother of child in concerned school records etc.

A.This question is tricky one and lot of debates have happen that what should be the caste of the child in the case of intercaste marriage. There is no direct prescribed law but some cases have been there on this topic related to deciding the caste of the child. Ideally, in India the child takes the caste of the father. In one particular case the mother belonged from reservation category and the child wanted to take benefits of the reservation but was denied due to reason that the father belonged to general category.
When the matter came to the court the court took the view that caste of the child will be decided on the basis of the upbringing of the child.
In this case the child always stayed with the maternal grand mother at her home and the father played a minimal role in his upbringing. The child stayed in the locality where the people followed the traditional ways of that case to which her mother belonged to and was raised like one of them.
The court took the opinion that since the child was brought up as a person belonging to reservation category so, his caste would be that and he was allowed to enjoy the benefits of reservation.
Now, you will have to decide that how you want to raise your child to get the desired caste assigned to him.
