Divorce case..lawyer asking money

Background: I have filed a contested divorce case against my alcoholic husband. The case number was recieved after 3 months. Problem: My lawyer had earlier decided x amount for complete processing, which I have paid completely. Now she is asking charges for each visit including the visits she claim has done without my knowledge. 7-8visits in last 3 months I suspect she is bluffing. How can I verify her visits? Is there a way that we can change lawyer after initial case submission?

A.U hv every right to change lawyer immediately for various reasons including non professionalism, undue demand of fees and incompetence. U can ask for NOC from previous lawyer n appoint new one. In case he or she is not willing to give NOC you can bring this fact before the Court n appoint new advocate without NOC. Hope this suffices.

You can get certified copies of order sheet where date of hearings will be mentioned and the presence of your advocate will also be reflected.. If you are not satisfied with her services then take NOC and change the advocate..

A.Sit with your lawyer and try to amicably resolve it requesting her for the final solution of divorce for you.
In case that doesnot work then ask for NOC and go to another lawyer.
It is your right to change the lawyer.

You can check the appearance of the counsel/advocate by the daily order sheet which is available on ecoourts Delhi.
Process of changing an advocate is easy. You just send them a letter and talk to him for his no objectionn.
