A good friend of mine is going through a bad phase and is in need of money,
He asked me to sell his 5 gem stones in India and then transfer him the money overseas, do I need to do any formalities?

You must have some authorization like power of attorney from him and also valid bill having purchased from your friend otherwise you will be in problem.

If the gems are not obtained from a genuine way then in every chance you too along with your friend have to face legal consequences.Kindly create an agreement mentioning each and every details of your transactions from an advocate along with three witnesses or more to avoid future tensions and troubles.
