It is generally a nature of the parties to deny the same. You have to bring witnesses to prove the same. An investigation can be made but for that a lot of things will be taken into considerations.

A. You can file police complaint against inlaws for your streedhan under 406 ipc that trusting them you gave it to them and now they are not returning. You can get your whole streedhan back as you have an inalienable right on it and you can claim it any time you want.
