Payment of house rent in Lock down
I am living in a rented house in Raipur Chhattisgarh. I was to vacate the house by the end of last month march. Regarding this I had informed to the land lord and I had paid the rent upto the month of March. But due to the covid 19 Lock down I could not vacate the house and neither can shift till 3rd May. I requested the Land lord to give me some concession for the current month as I could not move due to the lock down only. Is my request genuine or I will have to pay the full rent till the lock down is over.

A.Hi Das,
The situation is unpredictable and everyone is affected.
If the situation was good, you might have moved to your new apartment and paying rent there, so you should not have any problem paying here too. However have a good discussion, request him to deduct some payment on earning issues.

A.This period of lockdown is difficult for everyone. Pls understand that despite the lockdown, your liability to pay the rent remains. It also depends on the rent agreement executed between you and the landlord.
You are very much entitled to explain your situation and ask for concession. You may offer to pay certain amount now and then pay the remaining later. In case your financial situation is not good, then ask your landlord to defer the rent for a period of 30 days, so that you can pay it in May or if any deposit has been made, then the rent may be adjusted from the deposit.

A.Dear Sir,
It is an issue between you and your land lore. That many State Govts says the land lords should not claim rent of lock down period. If he legally wish to have such amount then he cannot and by standing in his shoes you pay pay at least 50% if he is adamant then ask him to the Court.
