is submission of aadhaar in bank is mandatory.

I have deposits in a bank and opened overdraft account and do transactions in it. Recently I received a message from the bank asking me to submit AADHAAR failing which they will freeze my account. After that I sent a third pary for payment by issuing a cheque on his name. The bank denied payment with the reason that I have not submitted AADHAAR.
Please clarify that is the submission of AADHAAR is mandatory even in the light of Honble Supreme court rulings? what I should do at this stage?
A.It is not yet settled but for security purpose it may refuse.
