Hi there,
I would be glad to hear a response of help and advice. I recently joined a renowned company in Pune. Previous to this I used to work for a company where I was under a probation period for 6 months. But I joined the current company just after serving the old one for 4 months. Now, in the background verification form of current company in employment type I had only 2 options to choose from i.e. "Temporary" & "Permanent" as there was no option for "Probation" I chose "Permanent" because I was of understanding that probationary employee is permanent but under observation and not temporary i.e because temporary is someone who is sure to serve for only a limited period. Also I was in possession of my I card, salary slips, joining letter PF account and everything else a regular employee has. Now, my current company has issued me a warning stating that I gave incorrect information regarding my employment type as they say I was a temporary employee and not permanent. They say that temporary and probationary are one and the same. I wish to know if these two terms carry same meaning and definition legally. A legal advice and help would bring a great relief to me. Hoping to hear from Vidhikarya's side.
A.Your appointment in any organisation is governed by certain rules and the probation period is one of them which provides the employer as per the terms of appointment to terminate your services in not found satisfactory. So this period is not permanent till you get a confirmation letter in this regard.

Thank you for your reply sir. Yes sir in my offer letter it is mentioned so. But I wanted to know that, does probation and temporary have same meaning. I read a ponit here http://www.lawyersclubindia.com/mobile/experts/details.asp?mod_id=223486 that probationer is a permanent employee and not temporary but is not confirmed.
