Sir, 9 years ago, my father was died at an motor accident, now we are facing a issue with our lawyer. He demanding for 15% of the interest value of the FD. we got about half of its insurance amount was received in advance and the remaining amount was deposited as FD in bank for 5 years under court supervision. We settled the full amount of lawyer full fee from the initial amount received, but now he says that he wants to share of the interest earned on the amount deposited as fd..if the fee was not taken in the beginning then it was reasonable to ask, not only that, Rs 5 lakh was deposited as fd in our mother's account. the interest amount of which was a scheme that could be received every month. We didn't know about the scheme and other things, the lawyer had never told to us. he didnt take his fees initially,
whether the share of interest should also be paid for him as per he demands?.

A.Firstly, it is important to review the terms of the agreement between you and your lawyer to determine whether or not the lawyer is entitled to a share of the interest earned on the FD. If the agreement specifically states that the lawyer is entitled to a share of the interest, then you may have to honor that agreement.

If there is no such agreement in place, the lawyer's demand for a share of the interest may not be justified. However, it is advisable to consult with another lawyer or a legal expert to determine the legal position in your specific case.

Additionally, it is important to note that lawyers are required to act in their client's best interests and provide them with full and accurate information regarding their legal matter. If your lawyer failed to inform you about the scheme or other important details, you may have grounds for a complaint or even legal action.

In summary, it is recommended to review the agreement with the lawyer, seek legal advice, and consider filing a complaint if you feel that your lawyer acted improperly.

Thank You
