I want to know if maternity leave can be increased and since I am not well
What steps do I need to follow ?

A.Dear Client,
If the extension of the leave is required for health reasons, the employee can provide proof of this requirement, with a certificate from a medical practitioner or an equivalent document. The establishment can ascertain the reasons and grant an extension accordingly. The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 Act is a social legislation that should be worked in a manner that progresses not only the best interest of the women-employee but also of the child, both at the pre-natal and post-natal stage and in case of emergent and critical situations on the recommendation of doctor/hospital, maternity leave may be extended beyond the recommended period. So you can approach the Company with the medical records and doctor's advice for an extension of maternity leave as recommended by the treating doctor/hospital.

A.Dear client,
As per the maternity benefit act, you can claim a maximum of 26 weeks maternity leave. However, such period may be extended for an extra 30 days if you show a valid medical certificate as evidence.Please send a letter to the HR of your company stating the reasons for extension of maternity leave you are seeking
