A.Dear client,

The tax assessment on your property may depend on several factors, including local tax laws, assessment practices, and the specific circumstances of your property. Without more specific information about your location and the details of your tax assessment, it is difficult to provide a precise answer. However, here are a few possible explanations for why you might be receiving tax assessments for the entire 3 cents for each partitioned portion:

Unchanged tax assessment: If the property partitions have recently taken place, it's possible that the local tax authorities have not updated their records to reflect the new ownership structure. Until the authorities are notified of the partition and update their records accordingly, they may continue to assess taxes for the entire property.

Consolidated assessment: In some cases, local tax authorities may assess taxes on the entire property even if it is partitioned, particularly if the ownership or title documents are not properly updated or if the partitions are not legally recognized. This can result in each owner being assessed taxes for the full property value.

Joint liability: Depending on local laws and regulations, tax authorities may hold all property owners jointly liable for property taxes. Even if the property is partitioned, each owner may still be responsible for the full tax amount until the tax authorities are notified and update their records accordingly.

To address this issue, you should consult with the local tax authority or a qualified tax professional in your area. They can provide specific guidance based on the local tax laws and assist you in updating the tax assessment to reflect the partitioned property accurately. Provide them with the necessary documentation, such as partition deeds or any other legal documents related to the property partition, to support your case.

A.Dear Client,
Until and unless a share in the partitioned property is mutated in the name of the individual owner in the record of BL & LRO/Circle Office, all the owners are equally liable for payment of tax for the entire property. So, reach out to the concerned Block Land Office for mutation of shares in the individual name of the owner on the basis of the decree of partition to enable you to pay the tax payable on individual shares in the property. You may consult with an Advocate for the purpose.
