A.Dear client
In the state of Karnataka, non-agricultural land can be purchased by any Indian citizen or NRI. But there are many restrictions when it comes to buying farmland. Before 2015, farmers with an agricultural background were the only people in the state of Karnataka who owned agricultural land and could afford to buy it. In Karnataka, a person who has no agricultural land or whose annual income from non-agricultural work is more than two lakhs is called non-agricultural. Thus, non-agricultural land could not be purchased in Karnataka before 2015.

RULES TO BUY AGRICULTURAL LAND IN KARNATAKA.
The annual income limit for the purchase of agricultural land is Rs. 2 lakhs to 25 lakhs.
Non-farmers are required to get the permission of the Deputy Commissioner of Districts instead of the Assistant Commissioner under section 80 for the purchase of agricultural land.
In order to buy agricultural land in Karnataka, a person is required to buy the land registered with the District level.
The land is liable for taxation and the price may be increased by valuation two weeks before the purchase.

Thank you sir. I was reading through the Karnataka Land Reforms Act Amendment 2020, it reads people with income above 25 Lacs per year are ineligible to buy farm land, is this correct? or are there any deviations to it? also what is the minimum size of land that has to be bought? A lot for private companies are selling agricultural farm plots in and around bangalore stating that minimum land size is five guntas, is it correct?
