A.Dear Clients.
Credit cards are a liability and not an asset, as the money on the card is not yours and this credit line does not increase your net worth. So don't take it lightly or casually. Even if the Credit Card is not in use, it incurs high-interest charges on outstanding, risk of fraud, etc. Additionally, a few additional expenses such as annual fees, fees of foreign transactions, expenses on cash withdrawal, etc. associated with a credit card. Banks can initiate a civil lawsuit against the defaulter to recover their debts in addition to initiating criminal actions.

A.Dear client,

If you haven't used your RBL credit card for two years and you believe there are outstanding amounts on the card that you wish to settle, it's essential to address the situation promptly to avoid any further issues or harassment. Here's what you can do:

Contact the Bank: Reach out to RBL Bank's customer service or credit card department. Explain your situation and inquire about the outstanding amount on the card. Request a detailed statement of the dues, including any interest or fees that may have accrued over the past two years.

Negotiate: Once you have the statement, if you are facing financial difficulties and find it challenging to pay the full outstanding amount, try negotiating with the bank. Some banks may be willing to offer you a settlement plan or reduced payoff amount if you can demonstrate a genuine inability to pay the full dues.

Payment Plan: If you can afford to pay a portion of the outstanding amount, discuss the possibility of setting up a payment plan with the bank. A payment plan will allow you to pay off the dues in installments over a specified period.

Clear Communication: Keep all communication with the bank in writing, and make sure to document all agreements and commitments made by both parties.

Avoid Harassment: If you are facing harassment from the bank's collections department or recovery agents, know that there are laws and guidelines that govern debt collection practices. Debt collectors are not allowed to use abusive or threatening language, and they cannot harass you to recover the dues.

Know Your Rights: Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations concerning credit card debts and debt collection in your country. Understanding your rights can help you handle the situation more effectively.

Legal Assistance: If you feel overwhelmed or uncertain about dealing with the bank, you may seek legal advice. A lawyer experienced in consumer rights and debt-related matters can help you navigate the situation and protect your interests.
