I am 26years old. I work in private sector earning very little it's 10k may be I'll get more later.. my father lost his job in 2020 due to corona I took the whole responsibility of the household but later he got his job back in 2021 April something. Still I used to pay at home my mother become so greedy she wants me to pay her every month a huge amount atleast 5.5k or 6k from 10k I paid later I took admission fr my graduation so I started paying 3.5k she is asking for more and more and also she mentally tortures me for earning more why I don't work in a big company a big position here also when I was young she pushed me to work in companies rather studies and as a child I wanted to do so since I never liked studies much. She tortures me always for money beats me scratches with nails and then obviously I also start that I would not pay more it's not my duty since father is earning why would I pay and still I am paying but you are having problem you are physically and mentally torturing me. She says she will go to the police and say she can not tolerate me on the house so she wants to refuse me as a child and want me to leave her house. And she is enough confidence that she'll get what she wants either money or me out from the house.. Her accordingly Indian law is bent towards the parents not children. She behaves just like a step mother asking for money mentally and physically and her language not takable.

When you achieve financial independence and believe you can sustain yourself without relying on your family for support, you have the freedom to leave your home and pursue the destiny of your choosing. Legally, you cannot compel your parents to provide maintenance for you as you are now an economically independent adult.
If your mother subjects you to physical harm or assault, you have the right to take action. Under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence (PWDV) Act, 2005, you can file a complaint against her at the local police station. Additionally, you can register a complaint online through the National Human Rights Commission's website (https://nhrc.nic.in/complaints/complaints/how-to-file-a-complaints). For issues related to women, you can also contact the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women and State Commission for Women by sending an email to [email protected] or submitting an online complaint.
This type of attitude is common among homes across the country hence it is not an isolated incidence. When you are economically independent and you feel you can manage outside without the support of your family for all your needs, nothing prevents or restricts you from walking out of your home to look for the destiny of your choice. You cannot legally compel your parents to maintain you as you are an adult and economically independent. You have the right to file a complaint against your mother if she hits you or hurts you in the local police station under Sec.12 of the PWDV Act, 2005. Apart from this, you can make a complaint online (https://nhrc.nic.in/complaints/complaints/how-to-file-a-complaints) to the Chairperson, the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi and the State Human Rights Commission along with the Chairperson, National Commission for Women and State Commission for Women who are empowered to investigate complaints related to issues faced by women by sending an email to [email protected] or filing an online complaint. Further, you can also approach the State Commission of Women situated in your state, and seek help from the NGOs who rendered dedicated service to the women in distress.
