As per HIndu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956, Sec 15, No adoption which has been validly made can be cancelled by the adoptive father or mother or any other person, nor can be adopted child renounce his or her status as such and return to the family of his or her birth. The local registrar notified under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (18 of 1969) shall issue the birth certificate in favor of an adopted child on an application filed by the Specialised Adoption Agency or adoptive parents, incorporating the names of the adoptive parents as parents.
