Legal Notice from Employer Legal Notice from Employer

I joined a company and I left that company in 3 months immediately due to bad working environment (in probation period). I didn't serve any notice period in that company and now they are sending me legal notice to pay the penalty because i left the firm immediately.
But I have a positive point that I never give my acceptance to there Appointment Letter because of this lockdown, there HR told me to sign the letter when the lockdown gets over.
So, my question is that if i never signed there Appointment letter and i never accept there terms and conditions then how can they send me legal notice to voilate there terms and conditions?
