Contract Renewal Contract Renewal

Hi, my contract is going to expire this month. I don't want continue and accept the renewed contract. But without asking employer directly sent email that is has been extended and will get letters soon. Now they want me to serve notice period. If I am not accepting contract and it's expiring, why should I serve the notice. Please suggest on this. There is no hike since 3 years and I don't want to continue anymore.

A.Hi,
You can cancel the renewal as it is not mandatory. The contract cannot be forced on you without your consent.
You need to check the employment agreement for the clause of serving in the notice period. If it is mentioned in the agreement, you need to serve for that period of time otherwise, you'll have to pay the damages for the breach of contract.

A.Hi,
You can deny the renewal and hence leave the job. The contract cannot be forced on you.
If your employment agreement had the clause of serving the notice period, then you'll have to comply with it, otherwise, you'll have to pay compensation for breaching the contract clauses to the company.
If there was no such clause, then you can leave the job without serving the notice period, as it is not mandatory.
