Financial Bullying / Financial Issues in Marriage Financial Bullying / Financial Issues in Marriage

I am a Hindu Male, married in December 2021. My wife owns her own Salon business in Pune while I am a salaried person in a WFH environment and staying at a place rented out by her even before our marriage (I am staying away from my house and she does not want to stay with my parents) . As a marital responsibility towards household expenses, I had agreed to pay out 80% of my salary to her (I do have Educational Loan, LIC and parents as obligation) and she can use it as it suits her. Though she has a business she has opted to go for a diploma course in Dubai on her own expenses. As aforementioned, I had paid out for two months as & when I get my salary and had actually not been able to pay out my obligations in whole, but this month due to my obligations piling up and getting a notice to pay out the debt, I came short of money and I agreed and asked her to pay out 1/4th of my salary (which i was left with after paying out) after I had paid out for my obligations, she has bluntly refused to accept and demands the amount what was agreed upon initially and she threatened to throw me out of the house and call police if I do not pay the amount she has asked. What should I do?

A.Dear Client,

As per the facts which have been provided, you can consult an advocate for better guidance as every month you are paying huge part of your salary to your wife. You can even send her a legal notice stating that if she continues to torture or blackmail like this then legal action will be taken from your side for mental cruelty.

Hope this clarifies your query and requirement.

Thank you.
