How do I claim money from bank (that had nomination) as a legal heir

My husband has expired. He kept his brother as a nominee in bank account. He now denies from distributing money to me and my mother in law. As I and my mother in law are the 1st class legal heirs of my husband. How can we claim money from bank. So that bank can distribute money equally??
Or how can we claim money legally from brother in law??

A legal heir is a person who is entitled to inherit the person's money under the terms of a signed will. A nominee is just a caretaker and does not own the amount in the fixed deposit or bank account and is merely a caretaker.. The legal heir is authorized to get ownership of the account funds. Hence you can consult a lawyer near you and can send a legal notice regarding the same to the nominee, if there is no resolution, you may file a petition in the Hon'ble court to help resolve your issue.
