How to get birth certificate for a baby

Father is indian muslim mother is a foreigner, baby will be born in India and needs to have indian birth certificate. Parents r not married. Is it possible to give father's name to a child?

A.If the mother has been admitted in any hospital in India, then the child shall have an Indian birth certificate only which shall be issued by the authority under which the hospital is located. Moreover if the mother wants then she can easily use the name of that person as the baby's father while filling up the hospital documents.

The Hon'ble Supreme Court says long relatinoship or relationship which resulted into giving a birth to a baby is deemed as marriage. Thus, father's name may be given to register inthe birth certificate.

The requirements for a birth certificate are Parents birth certificates, marriage certificate of the parents, proof of a birth letter from the hospital or nursing home, parents’ identity proof. There your marriage certificate will be required.
