Managing Complications: Court Marriage, Parental Opposition. Managing Complications: Court Marriage, Parental Opposition.

After facing opposition from the girl's parents, we opted for a court marriage. An FIR lodged against me was dismissed due to her supportive statement. Post-court marriage, her parents now want to save their reputation and requested her return for a traditional wedding in 15 days. I fear they may use legal, hidden plans or emotional tactics to alter our marital status.
They've also assured us in writing that they'll conduct our wedding within 15 days. What do you think?

A.Dear client,

Here are some considerations and steps you may want to take in this situation:

Communication: Have an open and honest conversation with your partner about your concerns and feelings regarding the traditional wedding. It's essential that both of you are on the same page and make decisions together as a team.

Legal protection: Since you mentioned that an FIR was previously lodged against you, it's important to be cautious about any potential legal issues that might arise. Consider seeking advice from a lawyer who specializes in family law to understand your rights and legal protections as a married couple.

Written agreement: If you decide to proceed with the traditional wedding, it might be wise to document any agreements or assurances made by her parents in writing. This can help protect your interests and prevent any misunderstandings or changes in plans in the future.

Emotional support: Going through situations like this can be emotionally challenging. Ensure that you and your partner have a strong support system, whether it's through friends, family, or counseling, to help you navigate these circumstances.

Consult with a family counselor: If there are any unresolved issues or concerns with her parents, consider seeking the guidance of a family counselor to facilitate healthy communication and understanding between all parties involved.

Know your legal rights: Be aware of your legal rights as a married couple and seek professional advice if you believe your rights are being violated or if there are any potential legal risks.

Maintain safety and security: If you feel that your safety or your partner's safety may be compromised, prioritize your well-being and take appropriate measures to ensure your security.
