Training Cost Recovery
I joined company one month ago. Now i have to leave company due to health issues. Company asking me to repay 1 month training cost.
Clause in appointment letter - The company will provide you extensive training during your employment with us and expects you to return the investment made on this training in the form of personal value
addition to the company.
Clause in Handbook - Incase, a new joiner leaves the company before completion of one year then the company will recover the training cost on company’s discretion. This is ensured as the company needs to follow the entire hiring process again.
Shall i repay them the training cost because I am not able to see anything related to how much i should pay to them?
A.Dear Client
Reach out to the human resources (HR) department or the relevant management personnel to seek clarification on the specific amount you are expected to repay. Ask for details on how the training cost is calculated. Clarify what is considered the "training cost" and how the company determines the investment made in your training. This information will help you understand the basis for the repayment request. If the terms are not clear or if you have concerns about the repayment, consider discussing the matter with HR or management. Explain your situation, including the health issues that led to your decision to leave, and see if there is room for negotiation.

A.Dear Client,
In terms of the contract of employment and clause of Hand Book which is equally applicable on you, you are required to repay the training cost to the Company once you opt to quit the company. As regards cost of training cost that depends upon the discretion of the Company and if that amount appears exorbitant to you, then you may serve a legal notice to company failing which excalate the matter before the concerned Labour Commissioner for redressal of grievance.

A.Dear Sir,
You have to pay that amount and you may refuse to pay if you are not in need of exist letter and experience letter from your company. For that meager amount the company may not go to any Court by initiating recovery proceedings.
