Second cousin Marriage under Special Marriage Act 1954
3 months ago
I'm a Hindu Male having no traditions of cousin marriages, I would like to know If I can marry my paternal second cousin [i.e. My father's first cousin's daughter]. I understand such marriages are prohibited under Hindu Marriage Act as we are sapinda relatives. Would I legally be able to marry my 2nd cousin under Special Marriage Act 1954 as second cousins do not come under list of prohibited relations.
Kindly refer to Law commission's 212Th Report - https://indiankanoon.org/doc/196490855/
