We have purchased a flat in Hyderabad but we did not put any furniture also, the flat is completely empty, we did not stay in the flat even 1 day. We are residing in chennai. Maintenance is fixed to 3000 per month. Is there a rule that we have to pay full maintenance or is it ok if we pay half maintenance?

A.Dear Client,

Once a buyer takes possession of a flat following registration, they typically become liable for the payment of monthly maintenance charges to the society or association, irrespective of whether the flat is actively used by the owner or not. These maintenance charges contribute to the upkeep, maintenance, and common facilities of the entire housing complex or society.

The obligation to pay maintenance charges is commonly outlined in the terms and conditions of the society or association, and it is a standard practice to include such charges as part of the overall cost of owning and maintaining the property. It is essential for flat owners to be aware of and fulfill their responsibilities regarding maintenance charges to ensure the smooth functioning of the housing community and the maintenance of common amenities.
