A.Dear Client,

In the given scenario, if your parents agree, they can take steps to resolve the issue through legal remedies available to them. Here are some options:

1. File a Complaint Under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005: Your parents can file a complaint against their daughter-in-law under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005, if they are facing harassment or humiliation. This law is designed to protect the safety and security of senior citizens who may be subjected to abuse in their later years.

2. File an Application Under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Sr. Citizens Act, 2007: Your parents can also file an application under Section 5 of this Act before the maintenance tribunal presided over by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or District Magistrate (DM). This act aims to ensure the welfare and maintenance of senior citizens, allowing them to seek relief from harassment or neglect by their children or relatives.

3. Contact Elder Help Line: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched an Elder Help Line (No.14567) to assist senior citizens in various crises, including health and financial matters. Your aged parents can contact this helpline for support in resolving the issue they are facing.

These legal avenues provide your parents with the opportunity to address the situation and seek relief from any mistreatment or neglect they may be experiencing. It's important to note that in proceedings under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Sr. Citizens Act, no advocates are allowed to represent either party, ensuring fair and direct engagement between the parties involved.
