A.Dear Client,
A lift can be installed in a building with four or more stories that stands 13 meters above the ground. It should have the capacity to hold a minimum of six people. Installation of lift in the apartment is governed by the Society's Rules and State Specific Act and Rules. It can be installed only upon the permission of the Owner/Society. Further, it is important to obtain lift licenses from the respective State Government to install and operate the lift. The Lift Act of the States defines the procedures, fee structure and timelines for obtaining various permissions to procure a lift permit within the State. The owner/society needs to make an application to the competent authority for obtaining the license to install the lift. It must also comply with the safety protocols laid down by the State. You can connect with the respective officer of the State for further assistance in the matter.
Hope it helps.
Thank you.

A.Dear Client,
Installing a lift in a building involves several important steps in compliance with the state-specific Lift Act and Rules, National Building Code, 2016 and government approvals, which can vary from state to state. The owner of the complex, project, or building must submit an application to the relevant authorities like the Municipal authority and fire Deptt, and the state housing deptt, to obtain two important licenses: a "license to erect" (permission to install the lift) and a "license to operate" (permission to use the lift). The installation and maintenance of the lift should be carried out by a certified contractor. This is a crucial requirement for the approval of the licenses. After the installation is completed, a post-installation test is required. This test ensures the lift's safety and security functions are working correctly, protecting passengers. The owner must periodically renew the licenses to comply with the lift regulations specific to the state in India where the building is located. Apart, adhering to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) code of practice is crucial for the proper installation and operation of lifts. These standards ensure safety and reliability. For more information, you need to contact the office of the concerned authorities.
