Dear sir, I have protected my mobile phone with password and I don't want to disclose the password to any one, coming to the question is it compulsory for the wife to know my password

Legally there is no provision wherein the husband is bound to provide the password information to his wife and hence your wife cannot raise a legal claim or complaint against you to disclose the password.
Nevertheless, it is good if your wife knows the password as it might help her and you in case of emergencies. If need be you can create app lock and protect the apps which you do not want her to access.
