I owe 1 Lakh to a person. The money was taken in August 2019 and I couldn't pay back due to the financial crisis. He has a promissory note from me and now threatening to file a police complaint. What are my options? I cannot repay in the near future anyway.

A.Hi,
was it in cash or banking... talk to him, try to negotiate as he has right to file a case against you to recover the dues and you may end up paying more than the loan amount along with interest and lawyer fees.

If you flatly refuse any body in his place likes to go to the police. Police have no jurisdiction over civil matters let him file civil case . It will take years together to get decree. Please give me Rank 5 if you feel my answer helped you.
