Can I disown my father completely? Can I disown my father completely?

I have a terrible relationship with my father. Since the very beginning he has been extremely dominating and has never let anyone take any decisions on their own. He comes from a very orthodox patriarchial mentality which I have despised since my very childhood.
Now, I am a 27 year old male, employed and unmarried. I have a girlfriend for 10 years and both our families have been anticipating the marriage, Now , my father suddenly showed his true colours and is refusing to let me marry this girl since in his words, "she and her family do not match upto his desired financial status and social background". He has been pretending to accept this relationship for the past 10years but indirectly tried to break us up many a times.
I have decided to move out and marry my girlfriend and her parents and my mother are completely fine with it.
My father being the crooked man he is, I am scared that he will try to harass me and my wife and in laws after our marriage. Is there any way I can legally stop this?
