Contractor issue

We empaneled a contractor for civil work and overall renovating our house in Gurgaon, the contractor did not finish the job and whatever little he did was shoddy,despite paying him almost all the money.. we had to move in so we took over and are getting the work done. Now the labour he hired haven’t been paid and they come to my house asking for money... what can I do here ?
