Sexual Harassment
I am a professor in a renowned university. My performance has always been good in the institute. A new director joined the institute two years ago, and is extremely aggressive, though with me he was too frank which also I disliked. Whenever my wife and I went for walk, and saw him on the way, or whenever in institute functions, both my wife and I greeted him with smile (and thats what we do with everyone). Two days ago, his bastard called up at home when I was out of station and said - "I am attracted towards you. Say yes or No! " My wife said - what are you saying and hung up the phone. Since then we are in tremendous pressure, crying, taking medicines, seeking help from a psychologist. I wrote him an email regarding his unprofessional unconduct and why he did this. I thought I will get my termination soon. But he replied and said he is extremely sorry and accepts what he did. And also said - "I beg mercy from you". But will accept whatever you will do to me." What should we do, we are unsure? Should we report to the board? Will he be thrown out or not? This will also give us lots of breach of privacy. Life would never be same again if everyone knows. Kindly advise.

You may complain to the board and initiate an inquiry regarding the same, so that the offender is punished.

If you want to take any legal actions against that person, then you may complain to the university's board. Generally, these matters are resolved by the internal inquiry committee which will be formed by the board.
