I am a non resident Indian and want to get power of attorney (POA) prepared to buy property in Maharashtra, India. As per one of the advocate I consulted, I have to be physically present in India to register the POA. Is this right?

A.No, you are not required to be personally present. You can get the POA prepared at the resident country and get it attested at the Indian High Commission/Indian Consulate.

A.No. Your presence is not required. Lawyer must be new. You can execute POA at place of resident country and can get the same nitrided by Indian high commissioner office and can sent the same to India for stamping and thereafter your attorney can execute the sale deed etc. You presence is not required in India.
