Last year i got an appointment at a private school on 22/1/20. They kept my 10+2& graduation marksheets for providing me the appointment letter.I was supposed to join from 01/4/20. But due to coronavirus outbreak and lockdown, i could not join. They nether insisted me on joining. In between whenever I contacted the principal he told me my job is safe & i dont need to worry.but when i insisted o joining from this January,21. The principal told me that they can't take me as their business have got hit and asked me to look for another job. Now my question is they have got full prerogative to withdraw my appointment letter but when i kept my marksheets with them as a measure of security. Can i claim compensation for damaging my careers for 1 year. Because without marksheets i couldn't even apply to other jobs and i was made to feel that my job is secured . All such proof in written manner, whatsapp chat are all available. Kindly help me in exploring the legal angle.
