One known person is abusing me with filthy words by writing letter in whatsapp
and threatening to murder me when we will meet.
What steps of action can be taken against this person and what sections will be applied to this person.
Can this case be formed in cyber crime?.
I stay in kolkata due to some work and my address is Nadia in my aadhaar card. This person (who wrote this letter) stays in Nadia . Can jurisdiction be formed in Kolkata.
A.Hi,
As per section 506 of the IPC , Death threat is an offence and punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years. File a FIR with proof of texts messages you already have.
If you find it useful, please rate my answer. Thank you

A.File a case in the place wherever you stay. It does not matter what is written on your Aadhar card. Yes it is a cyber case and cyber crime cell of Lal Bazaar will take care of this once the complaint is lodged.
