Whatsapp/ facebooc/telegram group

I m a government teacher. My department create a telegram group and sent it to us and ordered to join it. Is is legaly compulsory to join it? If we don't join it what action would be taken against us.

A.Hi,
Since it was an administrative order, it is preferable to join the group. Furthermore, because the government is focusing on Digital India and reducing the usage of paper, vital communications might be conveyed through this group, and you should be a part of it.

It is preferable to join the group because government departments are becoming increasingly digital. It is preferable to join his group because important communication may be sent through it. Additionally, the department may take appropriate departmental action against you for refusing to obey the administrative order.

A.Hello,
Yes, if its an administrative order to join any digital platform then you should join the group. May be, its under the Government digitization program or less paper utilization or to zero physical contact policy. As you said you are Government teacher, the department may be initiate appropriate departmental proceedings against you on the ground of refusal to obey the said administrative order. However, you can challenge the said order before the High Court under writ jurisdiction.

A.See it is up to the management of an institution to decide what technology or platform to use to manage the work or communication. Let's say tomorrow they start using outlook (mail) to manage the communication between the teachers or zoom for online classes can you say that you will not use it.
Yes if the use of whatsapp/Facebook/telegram group is for personal use rather official communication then simply you can ignore it and move on.
