Marriage with daughter of 3rd cousin Marriage with daughter of 3rd cousin

Hello Sir, one of my best friend is in deep love
with a girl since 11 years. Father of grandfather of
the boy and father of grandfather of mom of the
girl are brothers; i.e, girl's mom and the boy are
3rd cousins. They can arrange to get their
parents' permission if the law allows this
marriage. Please Sir kindly tell us whether their
marriage is legal or not.

A.Dear Sir,
You may approach local lawyer and clarify your doubt. Normally, it is of no consequence if your friend marry such girl unless some blood relative lodge complaint with police even then it cannot be registered and it is very difficult to stop such marriage also.

A.Hi,
Prohibited relationship is determined through S.3(g) of the Hindu Marriage Act, or is also dependent upon the personal customs of your family. While the statute provides a generalized concept, the grounds do seem to be cover your narration in its ambit. You might have to take the elders' opinions on this.

A.Hi,
in Section 3(g) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. two persons are said to be within the “degrees of prohibited relationship if one is a lineal ascendant of the other; or if one was the wife or husband of a lineal ascendant or descendant of the other; or if one was the wife of the brother or of the father’s or mother’s brother or of the grandfather’s or grandmother’s brother of the other; or if the two are brother and sister, uncle and niece, aunt and nephew, or children of brother and sister or of two brothers or of two sisters. It does not seem to be applicable in your case however you may still want to consult with your family first.

A.Family tree provided by you is not very clear and you should prepare and present a good family tree or talk to a lawyer and consult. Speak to your elders as traditionally if it is allowed and ok then there should not be a problem as if allowed in tradition then law also allows.
