My grandfather had 6 acres of farm land my dad and his brother sold the land and splitted the amount from the sale but before selling they checked my and my sister's age wheather we are above 18 and at that time we were not but now we are so is there any way we can get a share in the asset... Is there any law that grandchildren get a share in grandparents assets.... I am from tamilnadu

A.First of all it is necessary to know whether that property was ancestral before such sale,that means whether it remained unpartitioned for last four generations through male lineage,if yes then grandchildren's consent was essential at the time of such sale but at that time those grandchildren's were minor so it is necessary to know whether any permission from Court was taken in that regard. The year of such sale has not been specified herein and when you and your sister have attained 18 years of age has not been specified also so all these facts are essential to give you opinion regarding your legal right to challenge such sale.

A.Hi,
If you have been denied a share in your ancestral property, you can send a legal notice to the erring party. But no such claim can be made for self-acquired property.

A.Hi,
If it is an ancestral property you can ask for a partition but no partition can be claimed for a self-acquired property. You have to know the nature of the said property.
