Is it illegal for a father to treat his son and daughter differently in India?
For example, the son gets a brand new laptop with the best specifications according to his wants but the daughter receives a second hand laptop which is truly pathetic, and not according to what she asked. (And the only reason she is getting a laptop is because the college has made it necessary)
A.Hi,
There are no such laws as those are something which is being done in love and affection towards the child. However, if a child is not getting basic necessities from the father, he/she can move legally.

A.See there are no rules to regulate the these kinds of human behaviour which are more about the love and affection among family members. It is the moral duty of a father to love his all kids equally and treat them on equal basis. If a father does not do so then there is no law to force him to lave all the kids equally. But suppose the father is not providing for upkeep, food and shelter of the child then there is a law under which one can go to the court seek maintenance.
