Is there any provision of customary and religious practise in hindu marriage, for exchange of gifts between bride and grooms family. Can it be used to counter false dowry allegation ?

A.sorry to say but there is no such provision available against exchanging gifts between family.. but demand of dowry in form of money or any valuables articles is punishable under dowry prohibition Act. but if some one giving you gift by theirs own choice and consent then it not come under dowry prohibition Act.

A.Within Hindu tradition you can site a custom of such exchange of gifts in your community, I have witnessed a written memo being made of such exchange of gifts in a faction in Lingayats in Karnataka. You can claim it can be unwritten also.

A.Hindu marriage act permits customs but those customs should not fall within the concept of dowry as defined in dowry prohibition act.

A.Exchange of Gifts during Marriage does not attract any criminal offence.
But only demand of dowry is an offence.

A.Dear client.. if gifts has exchanged between both family members.. that's not come under dowry...
If posit party is putting false dowry allegations.. then they have to prove that .. dowry has been given by cheque.. or any
kind of money transfer... from bank....or
giftt deed.. or any kind of car or motarsycal booking on ur groom's name but paid by their account... Then only it will consider as dowry...
