Employement agreement : Non compete breach

I was working as Associate with a company and now I have joined a competitor of my previous organization and my previous employer emailed me asking confirmation on my current employer.
They said in case of non compete breach I will have to pay them liquidation damage which is unreasonably high (3 lakh) .

A.To give opinion it is necessary to scrutinize the service rules and regulations of your previous employer as specified in your the then Offer Letter and Joining Letter because without legally analyzing the viability of those terms and conditions as well as its binding impact upon you, proper legal opinion cannot be given.
