Rent agreement - from Lease agreement date or possession date Rent agreement - from Lease agreement date or possession date

Rent starts from Lease agreement date or possession date. As we were not able to move to our rented house during lockdown, landlord is still insisting for full rent.

Also landlord is not providing a gas connection we have to depend on gas cylinder which are expensive and risky. Is this beach of agreement?

A.Dear client,
Usually, the renting house terms and conditions work based on your acceptance of your Lease Agreement. If you agree to all the terms and have to comply with the same. Also, during the pandemic, it was an unenforceable situation to pay full rent so the agreement is void under the ground of impossibility of performance.

Thank you.

A.Generally from the terms and conditions mentioned in the lease agreement, it will be decided whether you have to pay on which date but generally once the agreement is executed, the lease holder starts paying the lease as per the terms only and they get their possession immediately with the execution of the lease agreement only. Hence you need to have a proper consultation with an advocate briefly for getting your problem resolved legally. As per the terms and conditions stated in the lease agreement the landlord shall be bound to provide those facilities and services to you. if he fails to do so then take immediate legal action with the help of an advocate against such injustice.
