Repayment Issue - transferred some amount

I have transferred some amount to one of my friend over netbanking. Now upon requesting to repay, I see no response from him. How do I address such issue and sort it out.
I have the messages requesting for amount from him along with the cheque snapshot which mentions the account number and account holder name.
A.In my humble suggestion, the nearest police station can be approached in order to resolve the above issue.
