Mental Harassment by relatives on the grounds of legally transferred property Mental Harassment by relatives on the grounds of legally transferred property

How can I file a mental harassment case against my (father's brother) uncle's son & his family for torturing my father? My grandfather legally transferred his property to my dad but when my uncle's son & his family found out, they started torturing my father, intimidating him, and coming to his kitchen as he lives alone in the house and we live away from him. He is scared that he will be beaten up.

A.There are laws against mental abuse under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Act, Prevention of Domestic Violence Act and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The mental harassment law in India that you can seek help from in dealing with such a situation is defined in IPC Section 498 (harassment) and 506 ( criminal intimidation).
You may also approach the jurisdictional police station and file the complaint against your uncle giving out the details relating to the harassment and police would take appropriate action.
