Lease amount case

House owner appointed one person has care taker of the property and slow him to lease the property and get monthly rent from his care taker. We gave lease amount to the care taker and escaped before the lease period expired (now lease agreement expired ). House owner now file case against us to pay rent with penalty. House said he is not responsible for the amount. Is we have any lawful hold till I get my money or the care taker arrest

As you said that House owner himself appointed the care taker then it is his responsibility and not yours as you had given your lease rent on time so now if care taker has escaped then it is owner's fault that he kept care taker without checking him. you can ask to concerned person about laws and regulation regarding this.
