Our housing society demanded funds from members for a particular work. Some members are contributed and some other members are yet to contribute. However, the fund is used for some other emergency work. Now the Society demands additional contribution to "put it back" the fund from members "including the members already contributed for that work" .
Is it legal?

A.Hello Sir,
Society is basically a private institution and they have there own rules, regulations and bye laws. But it should be within the jurisdiction of the state or country. You have to confirm this thing with the secretary and ask them that as you have paid the money then why you have to pay it again.
