Hello Sir, on feb 2022 I paid all the due amount of my citibank credit card, the collection team also told me there is no any due remaining, now today 02.03.23 the citibank company is acquired by axis bank, they are calling me and saying that i still have a due amount of rs/- 8800. i dont understand anything now, my card is already blocked and its validity was also already ended , i even had forgot my credit card number, how to sort out this matter, waiting your reply sir. Thank you Sir.

If you paid them the dues in 2022, then you must be having the receipt of the same. Share the copy with them collection team and ask them to furnish the details of the dues since when it is payable?
Then you can decide the course of action to be taken to deal with them
