My sister in law and family have been staying in my house in Bangalore for the past 10 years.I live outside the state but am paying water & electricity charges. They have given this address for aadhar & other documents. If I let them stay for more number of years can they claim adverse possession?

A.Good evening!
Make sure you get it in writing either that they are the tenants of the house through a rental agreement or that they are holding the property on behalf of you.

A.Dear Sir,
They cannot claim ownership by way of adverse possession but there is every risk to get back the property if you allow them to continue for more years. Immediately get issue a legal notice and create a document that there are either in permissive possession or get rental agreement from them to establish that they are your tenants.
