Lost Passport Case. Police not issued FIR. Claims change in Rules Lost Passport Case. Police not issued FIR. Claims change in Rules

I am from Gujarat (and currently in Gurugram for 6 months company training). My passport was originally issued from Mumbai. It got expired in 2015. In 2023 for my new jog I need passport. So I applied for re-issue/new passport and got to know that I am not able to trace me old passport. I submitted Lost passport application with affidavit in my allotted police station. However. its been 3 months and they are not issuing me a copy of FIR which I need for re-application. I checked on Gujarat Police Website and not not able to trace the FIR that I can download.

On contacting the Police station two times, they say that the rules have changed. Police station cannot issue the report. They have sent the application to Delhi, Once they receive a clearance from Delhi, then they will issues me a copy of the report. They are asking me to follow up in Delhi passport office. I am not able to cross check any such rule anywhere on the internet.

And I openly and transparently discussed my problem with the Police and offered my "full cooperation" in any of their requirements/demands. But they keep the same stand that it is not in their hands.

I badly need the passport from my new job as it involves frequent international travel. Seek your guidance please on how to I resolve my problem and whom do I contact.

A.Dear client,

Red Tape barriers are very common in India. Therefore, even for lawyers, it becomes extremely difficult to figure out ways through it. If the police claim there has been a change of rules and that you have to contact the Delhi passport office, that might be the fastest way to do so.
