Dual employment by one day
I left Wipro Technologies on February 28, 2022. I joined my current organization on the same day, but requested that my joining date be changed to March 1, 2022. My appointment letter reflects this date, but my employer processed my salary and EPF on February 28, 2022. This has resulted in overlapping EPF records for that date. I am concerned that this may cause problems in the future. What is the solution?
A.Dear Client,
In the prevailing situation, you need to submit an application mentioning your UAN number either online of offline to both the Employer stating therein the details of anomaly/discrepancy caused therein by default that requires necessary corrections to avoid future complications endorsing a copy to the Regional PF Commissioner for information and n/a. In case no development is noticed from any corner, you may submit a Grievance before the designated GRO of the concerned EPFO endorsing a copy of the said grievance to the higher authority of EPFO for a quick resolution in the matter, failing which you may escalate the matter before the PF Appellate Tribunal with the assistance of an Advocate to resolve the matter.

A.Dear client,
To address this issue, it is essential to communicate with your current employer's HR or payroll department promptly. Clearly explain the situation, emphasizing that your intended joining date was March 1, 2022, as indicated in your appointment letter. Request them to correct the EPF contribution date to align it with your actual joining date.
Support your claim with relevant documentation, such as copies of your offer letter, appointment letter, or any official communication confirming the agreed-upon joining date. Providing this evidence will help clarify the accurate date for your EPF contributions.
If your current employer is unable to rectify the EPF contribution date internally, consider reaching out to the EPF authorities directly. Share the necessary documentation and explain the circumstances, seeking their assistance in updating the contribution date accurately.
In the meantime, keep a record of all communication with your current employer and any correspondence with the EPF authorities concerning this matter. Having a clear paper trail will be beneficial if any issues arise in the future.
If the problem persists and becomes a significant concern, it might be prudent to seek legal advice from an expert familiar with labor laws and EPF matters. They can provide specific guidance tailored to the regulations applicable in your country or region.
