Company not refunding interview travel expenses as promised by email Company not refunding interview travel expenses as promised by email

After a telecon interview with me a Chief People Officer (CPO) of a manufacturing company in Goa called me for a F2F interview at Goa Plant by agreeing on email that the company will refund the expenses of travelling from Mumbai to Goa. After the 2nd round of interview it was informed that I’ve been selected and that they need to decide on the CTC. After returning to Mumbai I emailed him the expense details along with the bill copies. After 20+ days from interview date the CTC details were informed over the phone. I informed to the CPO my inability to join the company due to its low CTC. Next, I sent him follow-up emails on different occasions he kept on assuring on email that he will do it in the next week or within week - this cycle went on for sometime and now he has stopped replying to my emails. It has been 6 months now & my expenses (Rs.8K) still remain unsettled.
This is just not about the money being not refunded it’s about the wilful lapse or breach of trust where such companies feel that it is their discretion to exploit/ victimize employees/candidates without facing any consequences.
Is it okay to normalize such unprincipled behaviour?

A.Dear Client,
Please check out the contents of the email assuring you of the reimbursement/refund of traveling expenses carefully, Sometimes Company puts a condition stating that on confirmation or selection and acceptance of an offer by the candidate, the cost of travel expenses will be reimbursed. If the said email contains such a clause, then the company may not respond to your request. Even in the absence of any similar clause in the email, when you rejected their offer of employment, if you post the matter on social sites, the company may take legal action against you claiming compensation for damage of goodwill and image/brand value of the Company in the market that may also affect your career adversely.

A.Dear client,

The situation you described raises valid concerns about the company's integrity and its treatment of candidates and potential employees. Companies have a responsibility to be transparent, honest, and respectful in their dealings with candidates, and they should follow through on their commitments.

In your case, the Chief People Officer (CPO) agreed in writing to refund your travel expenses for the F2F interview at the Goa Plant. However, despite your efforts to provide the necessary documentation and follow-up, the company has failed to reimburse you, and the CPO has stopped responding to your emails.

Such actions show a lack of professionalism and disregard for candidates' time and effort. It is not only about the money; it is also about the breach of trust and the failure to uphold their promises, which can seriously impact a candidate's perception of the company's culture and values.

If you feel that you have been mistreated or taken advantage of in this situation, it may be worth considering your options. You can reach out to the company's HR department or higher management to express your concerns and seek resolution. Additionally, you may choose to share your experience with others through online platforms or reviews to raise awareness about the company's practices.
