Neighbour Disturbance In Addiction to Alcohol

My neighbour has habit to drink alcohol and shouts abuse . I went near police station to register a complaint but they told me that if abuse you then only we will register a complain against him. What should I do?

If there is any noise after 10 p.m., you may contact the local police and they shall give your neighbor a warning. If they do not stop, you may file a case under Section 290 of the IPC and they shall have to pay a fine of INR 200.
